Illuminating the World with Safety & Expertise — Insight on Chad Dupont

Did you know there’s electricity in music? Vibrations are converted into electrical signals, which are then amplified and transferred to a speaker through wires, in a process known as transduction. Chad Dupont, an electrical assessor for FOS of CannonDesign, has always had a penchant for all things music.

Growing up in a small town in South Dakota, the transition to Metropolitan State University of Denver afforded him the chance to explore his insatiable appetite for musical experiences. In fact, Chad met his wife at a concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre — one of America’s most iconic concert venues. The majority of their 10-year relationship has been spent travelling and experiencing various shows together. They even honeymooned at a concert festival. Just as music has been a bridge between him and his wife, Chad bridges the gap between boots-on-the ground client representatives and the electrical side of FOS facility assessment teams.

“Working as an electrician has always been more than just a career choice in my family; it’s a generational legacy that has been passed down through the years. Now as I carry the torch into the future, I take great pride in being the third generation of electricians in my family.”

Speaking of family — it was Chad’s wife’s family that brought him across the country to Richmond, Virginia last year, with his son in tow (who is now a big brother to Chad’s three month old son). While hesitant to move, Chad has quickly adapted to his new environment. “My father taught me the importance of adapting to new technologies and staying up-to-date with industry standards. I’ve translated that mentality to my new home.”

Switching careers slightly, Chad joined FOS in February. But he says from the moment he learned of the assessor position it sounded like a dream job. “Being able to stay in the electrical field, while getting to travel to varying job sites, AND work from home when it’s time to enter in the data collected in the field into our FOScore FCA software? This career change has been great.”

Trained by Senior Project Manager Mike Carroll, Chad says he couldn’t have asked for a better mentor. “From the moment I started at FOS, his guidance and wisdom have been invaluable on my path to success. Many of my teammates have been exceptional. Their patience and willingness to share their knowledge has not only accelerated my growth, but also made the workplace a fulfilling environment. They've taught me to see beyond the immediate tasks at hand, encouraging me to think strategically, and consider the bigger picture.”

The legacy of being an electrician isn't just about wires and circuits; it's about a shared commitment to excellence, a dedication to ensuring that the lights stay on, the power flows reliably, and the safety of the clients we serve is always paramount. In each electrical component Chad inspects and every circuit he troubleshoots, he honors the generations that came before him and continues to illuminate the world with safety and expertise.
