Foothill-De Anza Community College

In 2020, Foothill-De Anza Community College District (FHDA) prioritized a multi-campus facility condition assessment (FCA) as a foundational task in executing their Bond Measure G – an $898 million general obligation bond set to upgrade facilities and support enhanced learning environments. Located in Los Altos Hills CA, in the heart of Silicon Valley, the District partnered with FOS of CannonDesign to implement this FCA for 2.1 million square feet of facilities across three campuses. We completed the FCA as a framework designed to help FHDA implement the bond measure defensibly and efficiently, ensuring the greatest long-term return on facility investments

The FCA identified the current conditions of vertical and horizontal assets, helped with risk analysis, and guided stakeholders in decisions that impact the long-term use of the buildings and ultimately the students. The results are being used by FHDA and their bond program manager to prioritize projects set to be accomplished by the Measure G.

Our team is delivering all FCA results in our FOScore® assessment and capital planning platform that will allow FHDA to continually update and analyze the dataset, run reports, estimate projects, track tagged assets, and build capital plans.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR FOOTHILL-DE ANZA?

At the end of every project, FOS likes to discuss the next step in the journey toward a facility quality index. For Foothill-De Anza, that recommendation is for a facility energy index. With Title 24 and the potential for increased state funding for energy conservation initiatives, this is the next pit stop to achieving a return-on-investment on their assessment dollars.
