ASHRAE Houston Introduces 2021 Officers

Catherine Tinkler, FOS Director of Project Management, named as the ASHRAE Houston chapter Vice President

June 9, 2021

The Houston Chapter of ASHRAE, “a global professional society committed to serve humanity by advancing the arts and sciences of heating ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration and their allied fields,” has announced a new slate of officers for the 2021-2022 term. Our own Catherine Tinkler, PMP, EBCP, LEED AP O+M, Senior Project Manager and Director of Project Management, has been named as the ASHRAE Houston chapter Vice President. In her role she will be the research and promotion chair, and will be an integral part of the Houston Chapter Board of Governors. Catherine will advance to President-elect in the 2022-2023 term, serving as chapter President in 2023-2024.

Throughout her time with ASHRAE, Catherine has participated in various chapter positions including the Women in ASHRAE Co-Chair and Student Activities Co-Chair.

In addition, she has actively engaged with and applied her professional knowledge and skills across several technical committees. These technical committees are responsible for contributing to chapter handbooks, monitoring research projects, presentations, technical paper production, upholding standards, and technology advisement. Catherine is an active member of:

  • Educational Facilities Technical Committee (TC9.0) - concerned with the application of ventilating, air-conditioning, refrigeration, life safety, and energy conservation systems to educational (secondary school, college) facilities.

  • Operation, Maintenance, and Cost Management Technical Committee (TC 7.3) - concerned with the operation, maintenance, and cost management of buildings and the use of life cycle cost analysis techniques for decision‐making when considering investments in building performance.

  • Refrigeration And Air Conditioning Plant Assessment Guide (MTG RAC) - coordinating and overseeing the creation of an ASHRAE/UNEP guide that aims to be an international reference for the safe and sustainable operation and maintenance of air-conditioning and refrigeration plants, with special focus on developing markets. The Guide is to form the basis of tools that will verify compliance to recommended practices that can be verified through a point-based qualification or verification scheme.

ASHRAE Houston’s mission is to “serve the local air conditioning and refrigeration community, working to fill their overall needs with networking opportunities, educational resources, and industry certifications.” In her new role Catherine will support this mission and its members, encouraging new-membership growth while continuing to deliver top-notch membership value. With Catherine joining the officer ranks, she will be able to positively impact the chapter’s vision to “be known and recognized as the best ASHRAE chapter regionally and nationally.”
