FOS’s Ben Kozar Promoted To FPM

November 16, 2021

Shout out to Ben Kozar! FOS’s new Field Project Manager! The following announcement is written by FOS President, Joe Cassata:

As FOS continues to grow, we’re excited to offer up advancement opportunities to our internal team. This month, I’m pleased to share that Ben Kozar has been promoted to Field Project Manager!

Since joining the firm in 2016, Ben has been responsible for providing technical support to field assessment teams and performing field facility condition assessments (FCA), life/safety, and ADA assessments. With over a decade of experience in construction document preparation, cost segregation, coordination, and facility assessments, Ben is more than capable of supporting the FOS team in his new role. Ben sees this promotion as a way to be a team captain while in the field. He describes the working relationship during field work as being fluid with a lot of moving parts, saying “Senior PM’s act like a coach calling plays from the sidelines, while the team in the field huddles up, gets into formation, and addresses any audibles that arise – from team substitutions to schedule changes. The Field PM becomes the quarterback, taking information from off the field and helping to bring it to the team.”

The facility assessments FOS provides help organizations better understand the condition of their physical assets so they can create long-term lifecycle plans aimed at serving their communities. Ben embodies this mentality, and has been actively involved in his community, working for the Grand Island recreation department, coaching his high school hockey team, and volunteering with the Olmsted Parks Conservancy and Reinstein Woods. Ben also helps his fiancée’s family as they support their local church, fire department, and community with a multi-generational family French-fry stand at fundraising events. The longest running community involvement for Ben and his family has been with maintenance, remodeling, and odd jobs of the Dnipro Ukrainian Cultural Center for three generations.

Early in his career, Ben had a variety of experiences that shaped his perspective including time spent working with a development company and then training as a building analyst. However, his experience working as a cost segregation specialist is what relates the most strongly to his work with FOS as an assessor. Throughout his tenure at FOS, Ben has been a star player for me, our team, and our clients. I’m confident that this promotion will bring all kinds of challenges and opportunities for him; I can’t wait to see how he rises to the occasion.
