For A New Build Hospital At Bayhealth Sussex Campus
The Sussex Campus Medical Center is a $300 million new-build replacement hospital in southern Delaware delivered with integrated services by CannonDesign including several FOS service offerings. The 440,000 sf facility includes an expansive emergency and trauma center and houses 30 patient bays. The six-story hospital includes 128 private, same-handed patient rooms. The hospital also includes a 70,000-sf outpatient facility housing an integrated cancer center as well as rehabilitation, surgery, diagnostic services, and more.
CannonDesign used the Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) method to reduce waste and redundancies in the design process while increasing value — delivering the project three months earlier than comparable healthcare projects. This new asset is being turned over to the client with a fully populated web-based facility condition model using FOScore®. The model reflects an as-built inventory and condition of all major systems and components and describes the forecasted life-cycle of each with prioritized and costed strategies for renewal. Each piece of equipment has a facility condition record item and is identified in the field with an asset tag applied by the contractor as each piece of equipment was delivered to the site.
Each tag has a QR code allowing the item to be scanned with any smartphone or tablet for easy reference and/or update to reflect changes in condition or priority. All operations and maintenance manuals and installation photos are attached to this same record and can be accessed in the field at any time. The FOScore® data is fully integrated with the owners CMMS of choice.
Our team is also leading the commissioning effort with the prime and sub-contractors. We are using BIM 360 checklists for the fieldwork to log the startup report and the acceptance test report for each piece of equipment. This is then uploaded from BIM 360 into FOScore® and paired with the initial construction submittal and the operations and maintenance manual. FOScore® acts as the central hub for all input and reporting. Other existing or future software applications can similarly be linked at any time to the centralized interface.
